Hello again to everyone out there! leenielou is still without internet access (poor thing), so you can blame me for the slight delay in posting the poll.

Yes, it has come again, that time of the week in which we engage our brains, stimulate our ears, reach for the stars and most of all - collectively decide which band will claim victory over it's four adversaries and secure itself a spot on the A to Z Mixtape for the letter 'H'!

So without further ado...

Heya everyone, je m'appelle Christian, and I'll be your host for this week. leenielou is away from the computer for a few days (if you can believe it!), so we all drew straws to see who'd get the honour of posting the results of your nominations and I picked the shortest one. Pleased to be here though :D

Anyway, it is my duty to inform you that we are voting for a band to put on the mixtape whose name begins with G, so put your thinking caps on, grab a pair of headphones and listen to the samples if need be (conveniently located beneath the poll options) and lets get voting!

After some serious soul-searching, I've decided I'm voting for...

Garbage - "#1 Crush"
7(10.3%)
Gomez - "Silence"
14(20.6%)
Gorillaz - "Feel Good Inc."
13(19.1%)
Green Day - "Basket Case"
21(30.9%)
Guns N' Roses - "Sweet Child O' Mine"
13(19.1%)

Ok, it's that time of the A-Z mixtape where we bring you the first of our regional spotlights.

I have put together a nice little package of Aussie delights for you all to download and I do hope you enjoy. Comment and let me know what you think or to tell me what Aussie music you know of/enjoy. We will follow up with a poll in about a weeks time, where you can choose which of the featured songs you would like to include.

(You will need WINRar to open my little gem but it is a really quick program to download and run).

Oh, and I don't talk that quickly all of the time (occassional swearing as well), but I had to make sure I got in everything I wanted to say!!

To my fellow mixtapians,

As some of you may be aware, throughout the development of our AtoZ mixtape we will be having spotlights on certain bands which we feel have made a big impact in music history and that are just so damn popular ;). However, it wasn't easy for us all to decide who should be a spotlight band. One reason was personal preference and another was to do with bands that were bigger in one country/region that weren't in another.

So because of that, and because we have people on our "esteemed panel" from different regions in the world, we will be featuring music from the following countries/regions throughout the 26 weeks:

Australia
Canada
Europe
United Kingdom and
USA.

These features will give you a glimpse of music in those regions/countries, some music to download for your listening pleasure and let you discuss and comment about music you like from those countries and your thoughts on the feature.

Also to tie this into the mixtape, we will post a poll, in which you can vote for one of the songs featured in the Counrty/Region Spotlight which will then be included on the final compilation.

So keep your eyes and ears open because we will be bringing you the Australian Spotlight feature in a few weeks!

Cheers,

Em

P.S. We will still be doing spotlights on the bigger bands, this will be an additional feature to keep things a bit eclectic and international :D

Hello everyone and welcome to the A-Z Mix Tape!

Do you remember those days when CDs were a far off idea? When tapes and tape players were the cutting edge technology? When the art of creating the perfect mix-tape was a time honoured and exacting tradition and you could sit for hours just to make the perfect combination of your favourite songs?

Although this is mostly a thing of the past - where mix tapes were replaced with the mix cd and now the itunes playlists - we all know the joys of rediscovering those tapes from our past, and listening fondly to the tunes of back then. And we all still know how much joy can come from creating the ideal mixtape for ourselves or someone close to us.

Well now, we hope to recreate the glory of those days by making our very own, user decided mix tape (with a bit of an online twist) that everyone can download once it is completed.

How it works.Collapse )

Now finally, to be able to take part in the ultimate LJ AtoZ mixtape and to decide exactly which songs you want, you need to join the community and hopefully you will enjoy this process as much as us.

Our first update, and the first nomination process, will begin in the next few days when we have a good enough number of members to get a good mix. So don't lose faith - we will get your brains working soon :D

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them here.
